Mei’s experience covers consultancy and in-house public relations experience in Malaysia and the United States. She provides corporate and marketing strategic counsel and communications support to local and multinational corporations.
Her expertise ranges from image and brand positioning to specialised marketing, media relations and internal communications. Trained as a journalist early in her career, Mei gained her stripes in public relations while working with an international public relations consultancy where she rose through the ranks to become an Account Supervisor. She subsequently became part of the consultancy’s Business Development Team where she was responsible for communications development and conceptualisation for various corporations.
In 1990, Mei joined an international bank as its communications specialist in charge of public affairs, corporate social responsibility programmes and employees communications. 1993 saw Mei establishing Quattro Communications, one of the pioneering local public relations consultancies in Malaysia, where she has remained as a founder partner till now. In a move to broaden her global perspective and skills, Mei took a year off from 2000-2001 to work in a New York-based public relations consultancy specializing in marketing to Asian Americans.
